MISC Manages Mihzem & Idd Al Shargi Under QatarEnergy Consortium

MISC together with its consortium partners celebrated the naming of two LNG carriers, the Mihzem & Idd Al Shargi, advancing its #deliveringProgress strategy centered on delivering more energy with less emissions.

MISC Berhad (MISC), together with its consortium partners Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K-LINE) and China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited (CLNG), celebrated the naming of two new-generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, the Mihzem and Idd Al Shargi, on 17 October 2025.

Constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., these latest additions are the fifth and sixth vessels to join the consortium’s 12-vessel fleet of LNG carriers, and the first two vessels to be managed by MISC’s Marine Services arm, as part of the QatarEnergy LNG expansion programme. The ceremony marks a significant milestone for MISC, reflecting the trust in MISC’s proven expertise and leadership in LNG shipping as well as its strong capability to operate complex, large-scale assets with the highest levels of safety, quality, and reliability.

Furthermore, the completion of these vessels demonstrates the advancement in MISC's #deliveringProgress strategy, which is centred on delivering more energy with less emissions. As part of the strategy's Resilient Core pillar, these new-generation LNG carriers exemplify MISC’s sustained focus on strengthening its foundation through fleet modernisation and the transition to eco-efficient vessels. These efforts ensure MISC’s long-term resilience and its ability to deliver sustainable value to stakeholders.

Zahid Osman, President & Group Chief Executive Officer of MISC said, “The naming of Mihzem and Idd Al Shargi represents another step forward in our #deliveringProgress strategy. As the first vessels in this historic programme to be managed by our Marine Services team, we are committed to delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable maritime operations. Their successful completion also reflects the strength of our partnerships. We extend our sincere appreciation to our consortium partners – NYK, K-Line, and CLNG – whose collaboration has been crucial to achieving this milestone. Together, we remain steadfast in our support of QatarEnergy's ambitious vision and are privileged to contribute to their historic fleet expansion programme.”

Each vessel is equipped with advanced systems that ensure compliance with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) stringent environmental standards, positioning them among the most efficient and sustainable LNG carriers in operation.
