Charting Pro has over 400 different reports that have been created to date. Take a look below at just a brief overview of some of the types of reports that can be created using Charting Pro.

December 2006 Edition

For over 25 years, Best Software has led the way in developing and supporting automated business management solutions.

That's smart.

That's Charting Pro.

Is there a report in Charting Pro that will give me revenue by face? I do not have the Financial Module.
Yes there is. The lease revenue report will give you what you need. This report allows the user to identify how much revenue each face on a lease generated during a specified time period.

To run the lease revenue report, open the Reports window by clicking on the Reports button. Then go to Financial - Lease Revenue and double click on the Standard Layout. For this report to run, you must identify the posting start dates you wish to include in the report. The output will identify all contracts assigned to each face during this period, along with the amount it was sold for.

When is a finder better to use than a report?

For some clients, a finder is a report. There is a difference though.

Charting Pro's reports have built in header/footer information - the logo, the report title, the date and the time the report was printed. The finder, on the other hand provides a title if the finder has been saved.

The finder allows you to customize the display of the columns and sorting as you need it and will print only those fields you choose. The layout is like a spreadsheet. It can be exported in text to format and open in Excel, if you like. The report will print what it has been programmed to print. Unless the report is customized it will print the same information each time.

Both reports and finders can be printed on paper or to PDF.

Therefore, which is better? Personal preference, corporate and client needs will dictate the choice.

How can I change the sort order of my report?

To display the data on your report in a specific order, click on the Order button on the Print screen of your report.

Each report is divided into groups of data. Each of these groups can be ordered. The example below shows how to use the Order Screen of a Location List Report.

To sort a specific group of items in the report, highlight the group name (for example, Subcontract Posting Schedules) in the Groups box. The current order for this group in the report is displayed in the "Order the selected group by" box. On this Location List Report example, if there is more than one Posting Schedule to the Subcontract, the Posting Schedule will be ordered first by Area then by Site at, then by the Start Date, then by the End Date.

In the above example, to change the order the Posting Schedules are displayed for each Subcontract, go to the "Order the selected group by" box and click the New button to add a column to sort by, or highlight the field you do not want to sort by and click the Delete button. If you want to move the fields around, highlight the one you want in a different order and use the arrow keys to move it up or down the list of sorting criteria.

If you want any fields ordered in descending order, highlight the field and double-click it under the Descending column. A "Yes" will be displayed in the Descending column if you have chosen to order that field in descending order. To change a descending order to ascending, double-click the field in the Descending column so that the "Yes" is no longer there.

When you are done ordering your report, click the OK button.

Is there a way I can show (or hide) information on the report I want to use?

Charting Pro allows you to customize reports to show almost any information you want. If there is a report that requires only minor modifications, you can make these changes yourself in just a couple of minutes!

Editing reports can be tricky; feel free to call our Product Support team for assistance if you are having difficulty changing a report. What you are attempting to do may require MISA's expertise to make the changes for you.

To customize a report, highlight it in the reports window and click on the Duplicate button. Charting Pro will ask you for the name that you want to call this report. Once you have entered it, you will see the template for the report.

If there is information you wish to remove, click on it and hit the Delete Key on your keyboard. Don't forget to delete the title as well as the item you wish to remove. If you wish to add information, there is a list of fields that can be added to the report by dragging the name onto the report. Don't worry about losing or ruining the original report; Charting Pro does not delete or modify the original.

Once you have finished, save the report and close the Report Editor. Your new report will appear on the list and you can run it at any time!
