Can I Chart from a Map?
Yes, you can. Once you have a Subcontract on a map, available faces with the same characteristics can be shown on the same map, allowing you to chart the Subcontract by assigning and removing faces directly on the map.

Note: Each Available Location layer is created using the date range of a specific Subcontract (or flight). You can only assign a face to a Subcontract if it is one of a pool of available faces that have been mapped for that Subcontract.

To add available locations to the map, select Tools - Show Available Faces.... From the Availability period window, you can identify whether you want available faces for the entire Subcontract, a particular flight, or a particular date range.

Once you have added the available faces layer to your map, the "+" button (Accept Selected Face) and the "-" button (Release Selected Face) are enabled on your button bar. These are used to add faces to or delete faces from the Subcontract.

To chart a face to the Subcontract, click on the "+" (Accept Selected Face) button then click on the face symbol on the map that you wish to assign. Charting Pro will perform the usual verification checks (scheduling and line-of-sight conflicts) before assigning the face to the Subcontract. Once the new face has been assigned, its symbol on the map will now be the same as the rest of the faces assigned to that Subcontract.

To release a face from the Subcontract, click on the "-" (Release Selected Face) button then click on the face symbol on the map that you wish to unassign. Once the face has been released from the Subcontract, its symbol on the map will become the same as the rest of the available faces.

How Do I display demographics on a map?
Users of Charting Pro's Advanced Mapping modulel can display demographic data on their maps. To set up the demographic data, go to TOOLS - OPTIONS - DEMOGRAPHICS from the main Explorer window.

There are 2 pieces of information that must be set before you can begin adding demographic data. The "Demographic Boundary Files" box is where you choose which boundary files (zip code or FSA) you want to use. This is usually set up once, when you first start using demographic data in Charting Pro.

The "Demographic Properties" box will be used whenever you have a new demographic file to import into Charting Pro. To add a new demographic file, click the "New" button. From here you can identify the region of your market this demographic applies to, a name describing the demographic, the file to use, its format, and the boundary and data columns.

Once you added your demographic data, you can map the information. From the map tool go to TOOLS - THEMES - APPLY and choose Demographic shading. Select your boundary file and your demographic file. Charting Pro will prompt you with a series of screen that allow you to set up the colors, labels and titles for displaying this information. These settings can be saved to allow you to use them again in the future on different demographic files.

Can I show my client's locations on my map?
With Advanced Mapping, Charting Pro allows users to create and maintain a library of client locations. This library can be used as a resource to map client locations when mapping Contracts, Subcontracts, Sites and Faces, providing the user and the client with a better picture of where the client locations are with respect to the displayed inventory.

A common and highly useful source of data is a digital phonebook product that can be used to build a list of client locations (contact us for recommended products). Once this information has been saved in a database (.dbf ) format it can be imported into the Charting Pro Data Library and made available for use in the Map Tool.

Before you add your first client to the library, the default directory for where you are storing this information must be set. Go to TOOLS-OPTIONS, and select the Map Data Library Tab. On this tab you can identify the directory where all client library files will be stored. All client library files must be stored in this directory, or in a directory below it to be found by Charting Pro.

To add a client to the library, go to TOOLS-OPTIONS, and select the Map Data Library Tab. On this tab you can click on the New button in the Entries box to add a new client library. Charting Pro will display a window allowing you to enter the Client name. To select the specific file for this client, click on the ellipsis(...). You can specify the symbol style, color and size to use by clicking on the style box and the position, size and font for any labeling in the labeling box.

To map a client location, go to the map and select FILE-OPEN-DATA LIBRARY and select the desired client library to map.

Proximity Charting allows you to take your client's locations into consideration and target campaigns with greater detail. To start you'll need to have the Subcontract and available Faces on the map. Next, highlight the subcontract layer and go to Tools - Proximity - Chart at which point the Proximity Charting Criteria box will appear. You define the proximity criteria, select the radius you want to chart with and whether the faces should be inside or outside of this radius. You can draw multiple proximities on the map. For more complex requirments you'll need to utilize the Advanced Tab.

Once you've got everything set-up, to your liking, you can begin charting from the map using the Assign and Delete buttons. Charting Pro will check for conflicts before it assigns a new Face to the Subcontract. Always check the Summary Tab before closing to ensure you have met your showing requirements.
